What is Charcoal?



Activated charcoal is created from bone char, coconut shells, peat, petroleum coke, coal, olive pits, bamboo, or sawdust. It is in the form of a fine black dust that is produced when regular charcoal is activated by exposing it to very high temperatures. This is done to alter its internal structure and increase its surface area to increase absorbability. The charcoal that you get after it has undergone this process is very porous.

Just as its has its pros of deep cleaning the skin it has some of its cons also such as allergic reaction to some of the people especially for kids under the age 3 year charcoal usage should be avoided .

Benefits of Charcoal:

In soap form, it’s slightly gritty, which might provide the gentle exfoliating you need. It will also absorb oils and toxins on and below the skin. You can use it as a spot treatment if you don’t want to use it on your whole face–just think of it as a mini mask for your blemish.

Cleansing is one of the best properties of charcoal so it can be used as a cleansing agent for your skin which will deeply clean&clear your skin.You can find cleansers that contain activated charcoal in pretty much every drug store these days.

  • Allergic Reaction

As Charcoal has its benefits it has its disadvantages also,one of its cons is that it may or may not be suitable for all people with different skin type.In such case it can cause reactions such as itichiness ,irritation aur rashes on the applied area. So before using it for your face you must first test it on small area in order to be sure.


  • Not suitable for Kids

Charcoal use for the skin for kids under the age of 5 is not suitable.Since kids skin is soft and can be get easily harmed by the strong chemical present in the charcoal.So one must avoid its uses for the kids under the age of 3.



* Not recommended for kids under the age of 3
* For Children Above 3 years: Dose should be 25-50 grams(given one time)
* For Adults & Teenagers: Dose usually used should be 50-100 grams(given one time)


  • Not For Regular Use

Some people think that using charcoal daily may give them clean and clear skin for long time but it's a myth because even charcoal is good for skin but it still  is a chemical and using chemical on skin for long time may cause reactions.So instead of using it daily use it 3-4 times a week
